The Essence of Sulook
Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) was not given the title of Hakeem-ul-Ummah, Mujaddid-ul-Millah for no reason. His brilliance can be seen in every letter of his writings, and every word of his lectures and statements. In two small phrases, he has summed up the essence of sulook. He says, “The essence of sulook is only the following:
a) Evil traits are replaced with praiseworthy traits
b) Heedlessness of Allah is replaced with focusing on Allah”
-Malfuzaat Kamaalaat-e-Ashrafiya

Darul Hikmah Winter Retreat

December 28th-30th, 2007 | Masjid al-Huda 1081 Irving Park Road | Schaumburg, IL
“At the advent of every hundred years, Allah will send to this Ummah [those] who will renew its religion for it.”
(Hakim, Abu Dawud, Bayhaqi)
At the advent of every century, when darkness reigns and all hope is lost they emerge. They are sent by Allah to rekindle the spirits, to enrich the intellects, and to restore iman. Bright torches of knowledge, they guide us out of darkness, sacrificing their own lives so that our hearts can live. They are our pious predecessors. They are the Revivers of Islam.
Join us as we celebrate the lives of these great Muslim men and women and as we learn to follow in the giant footsteps they left behind for us in the sands of time.
