Reminder to Remember

Posted in Fikr, Misc, Poetry, Zikr at 12:47 am by Nabeel Khan

To starve one’s soul,

merely neglect zikr.

To ruin your Hereafter,

just lack in fikr.

Follow your nafs down a slope that is slippery

Will ensure that your life will remain in misery.

The journey of this materialistic universe,

Is nothing but a day.

Yet importance is given to everything around us…

As if we are here to stay.

How foolish is one to let this precious time slip away…

To be wasted away…

Constant remembrance of one’s Creator,

Is essential for progress in both the dunya and aakhirah

Seeking guidance from a spiritual mentor,

Will keep one from leaving the path of Allah.

As the Messenger of Allah (S) said,

“Worship Allah as if you see Him,

If not, then surely He sees you.”

A Lesson in Life

Posted in Ahwaal, Misc, Poetry at 7:43 pm by Nabeel Khan

Love is an action of the heart.

The actions carried out by the limbs,

Can be somewhat limited in their expression,

Of the love a person’s heart really feels.

One can easily devote his/her heart

To another creature on the Earth,

But has one ever stopped to wonder…

What good does it bring about?

The feeling of misery

And restlessness in the heart…

Is that what one wants in life?

Is it really worth it?

Neglected is the Khaliq al makhlooq,

The Creator of all creations,

The One who created you from a clot of blood,

The One who is truly deserving of all devotion.

Ever dared to be a die hard aashiq…

Of The One from whom tranquility is granted?

Of The One who’s generosity is incomparable?

Of The One who’s love is incomparable?

Attaining the pleasure of Allah

Should be the one concern on our minds.

To become a true lover of Allah,

Is the achievement to make in life.

Yet, the question remains…

In what way can this goal be met?

Submission is progression.

And as I have been told,

Time and time again,

Focus and you will succeed.

It’s just the wind under your wings

To make you soar higher…

Returning Back from the Gates of Hell

Posted in Ahwaal, Misc, Poetry at 8:09 am by Nabeel Khan

A life comprised of disobedience.

A life led of rebellion.

I had purchased myself a one way ticket to Hell.

Paved the way to my eternal destination.

I let Shaytaan lead me,

By fulfilling the desires of my nafs.

I was headed straight for the scorching fire…

Straight to the dreaded pits of Hell…

Until one day…

A spiritual guide was sent to me,

I became blessed to see the light…

My world no longer remained darkened.

My Creator chose for me,

A way for me to turn back…

A way for me to start new…

A way to break through from the trap I was in.

It was tough.

It required a lot of effort.

Hard work and focus were the two main elements.

By the grace of Allah,

I was granted a patient spiritual mentor,

One who cared so deeply,

Of which no bounds could be seen.

One that was willing to put up with my foolish behavior,

One that was willing to make a change.

No matter how much energy it would consume.

Or how much disappointment he would have to endure.

Bit by bit…

Slowly, but surely with time…

The effects had started to take place,

And a brighter future could be seen in store for me.

The Admirable

Posted in Misc, Poetry at 5:49 pm by Nabeel Khan

Who would ever think

That there would exist such a person

Who has equal or more love

Than the love of one’s parents?

Who would ever think

That there would exist such a person

Who is concerned to the extent

That he would sacrifice his entire night’s sleep in order to help you?

Is it possible

That there is a human on this Earth

Who possesses such tolerance

That even when one commits a major sin

He shows no sign of disappointment,

Instead he explains a solution so that on can get rid of the disease

So that one does not commit the same mistake again.

Can one’s imagination even grasp the fact

That there is a servant of Allah

Who has so much patience

That even with the slowest person

He never gives up.

And is always there no matter what time it is,

Or how small or severe a problem may be.

Who has ever seen a person

That cares so much

That he goes as far as he can

To see his students progress in life.

I can say with certainty

That such a person does exist,

But there may not be another

Anywhere in the world

Who can match up to the likes of this man.

He sacrifices anything and everything

Just to see his students progress.

He is concerned ever so deeply

That because of his concern and worry

At times all sleep at night is lost.

He cares so much

That the pain the students feel…

He feels it too.

He has so much patience

That we go on doing one wrong thing after the other

But he will show no sign of disappointment.

Instead he just laughs it off

And says that this stuff will take time.

On the other hand,

Us ungrateful mureeds,

Show little or no appreciation,

For the amazing Shaykh that we have been blessed with…

The greatest blessing anyone could ever receive…

The most precious gift anyone would be stupid not to cherish.

Our Shaykh is The Admirable Shaykh.

No one could ever measure up to him…

No one could ever even come close…

Guidance Granted

Posted in Connection with Allah, Misc, Poetry at 11:46 am by Nabeel Khan

To think one can manage on one’s own

Is the easiest trap to fall in.

A concept that took a long time to learn,

That took a long time to fully sink in.

When my Shaykh entered my aimless world,

I was taught the purpose of my living and breathing,

The purpose for which I was created.

I then became one to begin to strive to achieve the goal.

Heinstructs me for what I need to do,

In order to attain the pleasure of Allah.

He guides me throughout my journey

Is there to support me every step of the way.

I have discovered a world

In which light shines upon me from all sides.

A world where I am granted a peace of mind,

Where tranquility descends upon me.

Through His continuous effort, tolerance, and patience,

He has brought me to the point where I am today.

Over the course of the past several months,

I have been continuously taught many valuable teachings.

We often hear the saying

“One can’t have it all.”

Throughout this journey sacrifices need to be made,

Changes need to be inculcated,

Struggling with one’s nafs is a given…

But who ever said this journey was easy?

The words of Allah, The Most Exalted

“Verily, with every hardship comes ease!”

Putting in some extra effort now

Will surely pay off in the long run…

Along with the du’as of a caring and devoted Shaykh

What more can one ask for?
