At the Door of the Beloved

May 8, 2011

Once during a majlis, Hazrat Fariduddin Ganj Shakar (RA) narrated this heart rendering story of Layla and Majnoon:

One day Layla had invited the poor and destitute people of the town to her house, in order to give them food. Upon hearing of this invitation, Majnoon also went to the door of Layla with his empty wooden bowl. Layla distributed food to everyone but when it came Majnoon’s turn, she turned away and went inside. When this happened, Majnoon started leaping out of ecstasy. Upon seeing this, the other poor and destitute people started telling Majnoon, “she has ignored you; this is nothing to be joyous about!” To this Majnoon replied, “Yes, yes, she indeed did not give me anything, but this is a testimony to the fact that she has at least recognized Majnoon!”

Upon relating this, Hazrat Fariduddin (RA) took a deep sigh and said, “Oh Dervishes* (ascetics)! Only they understand this talk, who are drowned in the ocean of love!”

Then he went on to say, “Oh Dervishes (ascetics)! Those who make claims of passion and love, they should hold on to the doorstep of the Beloved with their life! Once a time will come when the door of the Beloved will open and your objectives will be achieved!”

- Rahat al-Quloob: A book compiled by Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Awliya (RA) containing the malfoozat of his Shaykh, Hazrat Fariduddin Ganj Shakar (RA).

* Not to be confused with the whirling dervishes.

The Mashaaikh of the Chishtiyah Tareeqah have placed great emphasis on traversing this path of Sulook through divine love. It has been reported from the Mashaaikh that the way of the Chishti Tareeqah is to throw all spiritual aspirants into the flowing river of divine love. Those that traverse the path and cross to the other side have reached the destination, while those who drown therein are said to have become martyrs in this path of love.

SubhanAllah! I pray that Allah Ta’ala allows us all to become His ardent lovers.

The Business of Being Broke: The Book that Blackens the Face

February 4, 2011

My Beloved Shaykh Hazrat Mawlana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahib (DB) once remarked, “Jab Shaykh mana’ kare kisi cheez se, to jaan de do magar Shaykh ke hukm ke khilaaf mat karo, phir paajaoge Allah ko!”  In English, “When the Shaykh prohibits something, then die if you must, but do not go against the command of the Shaykh.  As a result, you will attain Allah!”

A Khalifah of Hazrat Mufti Taqi Usmani Sahib (DB), Shaykh Dr. Kamal Sahib (DB) had posted something very unique on his website:

In the above link, the following is mentioned:

“Shaykh Jamal-ud-din Ahmad Hanswi (d.1261) a senior khalifa of Baba Farid-ud-din Ganj Shakar (Allah Have mercy on them) wrote in his compilation of spiritual revelations,

‘O Ahmad! Apostates are of two kinds: 1) An apostate of Shari’ah. 2) An apostate of tariqah (Tasawwuf). The apostate in the Shari’ah is the Muslim who renounces Islam.  In tariqah, the mureed who disobeys the instructions of their Shaykh is an apostate of the tariqah.’ – Mulhemat pg. 72”

Those who go against the orders of their shaykh will live a life that has no barakah and blessings.  They may be given plenty in this world, but it will be devoid of barakah.  This is the result of going against the order of a simple human.  Imagine the state of that person who becomes involved in aiding cowards in an attempt to defame the Noble Messenger (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam)!

Our Mashaa’ikh (DB) have time and again told us to not be involved with Facebook.  Even the little good a person sees coming from it, comes with ten times the bad.  Even if it is used “for the right reasons in the right way” it is still a horrible medium.  How can the Iman of a Muslim tolerate, bear, or even dare to support those who planned to mock their Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam)!? These people will be broke when it comes to barakah even if they are not broke when it comes to worldly profit.  Their faces and their products may be radiant in this world but Allah will blacken their faces and disgrace them in this world and the next.  Making a mockery of the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam) and his heirs is no minor matter, rather it is announcing war with Allah.

So for all those who wish to succeed, it would be best if one gained the dua’s and prayers of the pious instead of incurring the wrath of Allah upon one’s self.

I pray that Allah allows us to achieve maximum barakah in all that we do by conforming to the commands of Allah, the Sunnah, and method of our Mashaa’ikh.  Aameen.
