The Gist of Becoming Bay’at

During a conversation, Hazrat Thanwi (RA) said, “The gist of becoming bay’at is that on one side (the side of the mureed) there is a commitment to obey and follow, and on the other side (the side of the shaikh) there is a commitment to guide, train, and educate.  This is being bay’at in reality, even if in reality there is no apparent manifestation of this
