Don’t You Worry, We are also Naqshbandi

Sometimes Shaytaan deceives the saalikeen by causing friction amongst them through the differences in the various silsilah namely the Chishtiyah, Naqshbandiyah, Qadiriyah, and Suhurwardiyah.  Shaytaan causes a person to think that since the the other person is not of our silsilah, he/she is not part or one of us.  Thoughts of this nature can be extremely harmful for the saalik regardless of which tareeq he follows.

Concerning this issue, my Shaikh, Hazrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammad Akhtar Sahib (DB) told me, “Don’t you worry, we are also Naqshbandi, and that I also has khilafat and ijazat from Hazrat Maulana Shah Muhammad Ahmad Sahib (RA) who was the khalifah of Hazrat Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman Ganj Muradabadi (RA), both of whom were high ranking Naqshbandi shuyookh.  Apart from that, Haji Imdadullah (RA), the Shaikh of Hazrat Thanwi (RA) was formally authorized an licensed in all four silsilahs (Chishtiyah, Naqshbandiyah, Qadiriyah, and Suhurwardiya). Even us, when we take bay’at or give bay’at, we initiate or are initiated into all four at the same time.”

Hazrat Hakeem Sahib (DB) then explained by example that everyone on a plane is flying towards the same destination. Each person has their own issues and way of doing things. Some fly first class, business, and most of us fly coach. It would be foolish to think we are better sitting in 15A compared to 16C because ultimately we all land at the same place. So yes, some practices are different, but they are not to be made an issue out of. My Shaikh stressed this point to me 3 times over the phone. He advised me to look at what we have in common and benefit mutually at the same time maintaining our own identity.

Subhaanallah!  I pray that Allah gives us the true understanding of the advice of our shuyookh, and that we can implement it as well. Aameen.

JazakAllah. Just a historical point. Hadhrat Mawlana Shah Mohammad Ahmad sahib ra was the khalifa of (? Shaykh)a khalifa of Hadhrat Mawlana FazalurRehman Ganj-muradabadi ra.

Jazak’Allah for another enlightening post. As long as the Ummah keep dividing and seperating into sects in itself, there will come no changes. No matter how broken or sinful a Muslim is, every single Muslim has at least one quality that is beneficient to me as an individual person and his brother or to the entire Ummah.

By the way, it’s true Hadhratwala Hakeem Akhtar Sahab (Damat barakthumu) takes bay’ah on all four Silsilahs – I heard it on an audio on the other Khanqah Akhteria Blog.

Subhanallah, this formula can be applied wherever one feels this sense of animosity or friction. One should just find the “common ground” and focus on the agreed upon points and objectives, rather than the different methods or roads that lead to attaining the objective. Because in the end of the day, everyone’s intention is to achieve Allah Ta`ala.
