Why is He Better Than Me?

Hazrat Thanwi (rahmatullahi alaihi) advises the salikeen treading this path saying:

“Among the calamities for a mureed is subtle and concealed hasad (envy) in his nafs for peers along the Path. He should not envy any of his contemporaries in the path if they have attained a distinguished rank while he himself has been deprived thereof. He should understand that all affairs have already been predetermined.”
