A Unique Take on Lustful Glances
“You might not hear this reason for the impermissibility of lustful glances from anyone other than myself. To cause any harm to a Muslim is not permissible, and by lustfully looking at someone’s daughter-in-law or daughter, or any beautiful male or female will cause some pain in one’s own heart. This looking will cause one to be in a state of conflict. So the one looking is also a Muslim, therefore it will be impermissible for a Muslim to cause harm to his own heart. This might be a wisdom behind the impermissibility of lustful glances. The looker is a Muslim who is putting his own heart in harm’s way, which is haram. So in light of this, lustful glances are also haram for both men and women.”
