The Love of Allah

1.) A Sign of True Love for Allah Ta`ala

Our Shaikh (daamat barakaatuhum) said:

My Shaikh had mentioned once that if someone else happens to take the beloved name of “Allah” and the person who hears it is from the Ahlullah (true lovers of Allah), then just by hearing the beloved name of Allah, the person will go into a state of ecstasy.

He will say, “Ah! Who is taking the name of my beloved?!”

Then my Shaikh said that when he had gone for Hajj, he met a man from India in Makkah Mukarramah whose one and only son’s name was “Hamid”. All of a sudden, one Arab called his son saying, “Ya Hamid!” That Indian man started to tremble in memory of his own son. He had remembered his own Hamid.

So how can it be possible that someone claims to be a lover of Allah and not not enjoy the beloved name of Allah?”

2.) Not Having Love For the Ahlullah is Proof of Not Having Love For Allah

Our Shaikh said: “That person who does not enjoy meeting the people of Allah does not have true love for Allah in his heart. For example, a person claims that he has a lot of love for kababs. And just that moment a kabab-seller is passing by in the neighborhood yelling out, “Kabab-seller! Kabab-seller! Kabab-seller!” But this person gets no excitement out of hearing the kabab-seller’s voice. And he does not say, “Oh! From where is the beloved’s voice coming from!” Then this is clear proof that the person is not a true lover of kabab.”

The question arises as to how this love is to be attained? And the answer to that was given by Hakimul-Ummah Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi(rahimahullah) when he said, “Those who have attained that love, humble yourself in their auspicious company and service, and you will also attain it…”
